Where Oh Where Does the Lava Flow?

You’ve heard it before because it’s absolutely true: it isn’t the destination, it’s the journey. Everyone who has full-timed in their RV can confirm this. Some of the best experiences, the most memorable adventures, are those that catch you by surprise.

While I wouldn’t call stumbling on the Lava Flow Interpretive site at a rest stop to be one of our most memorable adventures, we certainly enjoyed having a chance to pause longer than it takes to use the facilities and stretch a bit.

With a series of interlocking trails and interpretive signs, this spot between Pocatello and Idaho Falls, Idaho, along Interstate 15, invited us to spend some time learning about this unique place.

In such gorgeous weather, it was easy to spend some time exploring.

The trails stretched all around us, but the road was calling, so we left some of the trails for another time.

If only all rest areas were so restful!
