Ten Thousand or Twenty?

Lakes… that is. Minnesota.

Heading south from Duluth, we soon reconnected to the route we’d taken when we’d come from out West a few months earlier.

Back then, Minnesota was struggling (like so many other states) with a budget crisis that meant many of the rest areas were closed down.

So glad we had our own toitee with us!

Later, driving down from Duluth a few months later, we were glad to see that they had reopened.

And, on that long drive from north to south, Ellen decided to see how many of those ten thousand lakes she could spot from the window.

“One… two…”

Getting photos was even harder.

She counted about twenty lakes before we crossed the Iowa border. “Most of them were off this road, apparently,” she said, grinning.
